Usage Of Johan

What did you mean by "they are probobly the same name"? The Nellis family also used Johann to show "the younger", not John. Even their first William (Wilhelm) was called Johann Wilhelm when he was a child and later dropped the Johann when he was older. The list of children for Wilhelm and Sabina included sons named Johann Wilhelm Nellis Jr., Johannes Nellis, Johann Henrich Nellis. Children of Catherine Elizabeth Nellis who married Jacob Krauss include sons: John Jacob Crouse, Johan Jost Crouse. (Different spellings of last names as I'm sure you know were because of different minister or recorders and their interpretation of these Palatine names.) Three sons of Johann Henrich Nellis and wife Margaretha: John Nellis, Johann William Nellis, Johann Warner Nellis. Why would they use John for John with one child and then swith to Johann to mean John in the same family?
