My GGrandfather John Dockweiler had a brother whos full name was Hans Frederick Wilhelm Dockweiler. He was born Dec 16, 1870 in Clinton, Iowa his birth is documented by his mothers handwritten notes. His marriage to Emma Kuhlman in 1899 at Denison, Iowa is also documented.A William Dockweiler the right age and in Woodbury County Iowa near where the family was from is found in the 1900 census, with a wife named Emma and a daughter named Clara born about 1900. Family oral history says that either Emma died or divorced and William remarried an Alice Mulford. William is supposed to have died Oct. 21, 1916 in Omaha Nebraska.
I have found in the 1920 census in Omaha, Nebraska,an Otto Dockweiler age 4 (born about 1915)living with George Dennis (sp?) and his wife Alice, as Georges stepson, making Alice his mother, and possibly the widow of William Dockweiler.
Does any of this make a connection for you. Did you ever hear of the Dennis family, did you ever hear that Ottos mother may have been Alice, did you ever hear of an aunt named Clara( she would have been Ottos 1/2sister) Did you ever hear about Gravity, Iowa (I think this is where William Dockweiler is buried)
If you can connect with this I have ancestory going back to the early 1700's in Germany for the Dockweiler family
