The Dockweiler family that I am researching came to America from the area of Schleswig-Holstein near the town of Kropp just SE of the town of Schleswig. I see that Ribe is north of that area presently within the borders of Denmark. I understand that there the Dockweiler name had various spellings even in the church books of S-H but I have not seen all the variations. I have never seen the Dockwell name as a form of Dockweiler.
The first Dockweiler from the Kropp area that we know about was Christian. When he died he had 13 living children, so it became a very large family. My family traces back to Johann (1806-1858) married to Anna Tams. His father was also Johann we think a son of Christian. I know of five children of Johann and Anna Tams that came to America. They were
Hans 1838-1917 (he was my ggrandfather)
Margaretha 1840-1928 (married a Jurgens)
Johann Christian 1848-1922
Lutze 1853-1912 (married a Petersen)
apparantly Johann and Anna had more children but that is all I know about at this time. So none of these appear to be your Margaret married to a Lauritsen.
However, I recently recieved a compilation from a fellow in Germany from the book "Chronik der Heide und Moorkolonisation im Herzogtum Schleswig 1760-1765" concerning the Dockweiler family. I will email this to you it is very interesting
Thank you for your response to this message board Jim. I hope we can stay in touch.
