Duckwiler family name

My maiden name is Duckwiler. I have been trying to research it for a number of years, but the trail repeatedly runs dry with Daniel, ca 1770, botetourt county, va. There is also another distant relative researching the same name and her search apparently leads to the same dead end. Daniel had 2 sons, Isaac (my direct ancestor) and Joseph. Since the spellings and obvious pronunciations are so similar,I'm wondering if there could be any connection? I live in Illinois and have found a handful of Duckwilers scattered across the U.S. but few seem interested in family history. Have you any ideas or suggestions?
