I have my Dodds connections looking into names and dates for me. The Dodds history I have access to does not list many dates. I do have info stating the Doddses left Scotland around 1709, copied by John Emerson Dodds in 1850 from the notebook of Capt. William Dodds of Mt. Joy, Ohio.
We live on Mt. Joy Road which is not far from the old Presbyterian cemetery wherein many Dodds, Bonners and McChesneys are interred.
Thomas "Seaborn" Dodds married Mary Guthrie in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA and then moved to Westmoreland Co., PA, where they had 12 children. Quite a few Dodds are buried in Butler Co., PA in the White Oak Springs United Presbyterian churchyard.
There are 2 Dodds - Andrew and John - who served in the Revolution and were present at the surrender of Cornwallis in Yorktown. John went to the Carolinas after the War and the family lost trace of him. Andrew died in Huntington Co., PA and never had any children nor owned any land.
Are there any Shannons or Sartains in your line? This could be a definite connection.
I shall keep in touch and let you know what I can find out.
