Thomas Ernest Cawthorne Dodgson

Greetings from NZ.

I am trying to find any information about my grandfather, Thomas Ernest Cawthorne Dodgson. My father, Ernest Robert Field-Dodgson, died a year ago and he knew little about his background.
As fas as I can ascertain my grandfather came out to New Zealand in the early 1900s as an engineer. He met my grandmother here, they married and they returned to the London (address 6 York House, New Road, Woolwich)where grandfather was Chief Engineer at the London Docks and my father was born. Grandfather died when Dad was about 2 and grandmother returned to NZ not long afterwards - and rarely spoke about the English side of the family again. Hence the "mystery". The only other lead I have is that my great grandparents lived in Upminster, in Waldegrave Gardens.
