Do you have any more on Jane Matilda Dodwell or Edwin Dodwell?
I have only 3 Jane Dodwells in Long Crendon: (1) bap. 1697, (2) born c.1823 and (3) born 1861. I have no Edwin Dodwell yet.
I need to get your info into my tree Ginny.
First mention of Dodwell in Long Crendon I know of is Thomas Dodwell in 1667. We don't know where he came from yet (at least, I don't!).
Obviously Edwin belongs in 'our' Long Crendon tree - we just have to find the link. He is probably the Edwin Dodwell listed as 'shopkeeper' in the 1854 directory - does this ring any bells ginny? An Edwin Dodwell also held land in (nearby) Brill in the 1873 'Return of Owners of Land' survey (just over 43 acres). Edwin does not seem to occur among the various records of the Long Crendon Baptist Dodwells.
Get back to me Ginny -
