Catherine Doerr of Alsace Lorraine area

Searching for the family of my Gr-Gr-Grandmother, CATHERINE DOERR from the Alsace Lorraine area on the border of France and Germany, I have seen it written Catherine was from Germany and France. I have an approximate birthdate of 1810-1811. An article in the newspaper says she was of New Orleans, so I assume her family migrated from Europe through the port of New Orleans. Catherine died in St. Louis, MO 12 January 1888. I have not found a marriage record, she married John Clemens who was always associated with the sea, sailing and later the Mississippi river in St. Louis, owning a sailing loft. John Clemens was born mid-ocean June 8, 1806 whil his parents were fleeing Corsica for the island of St. Bartholomew in the West Indies. He went to sea as a lad, serving as a cabin boy, was ship wrecked and was one of two persons that survived. John Clemens at one time had been very wealthy, and I was told his wife (Catherine) and daughters dressed elegantly in long black silk dresses, with servants to attend to their needs. By a turn of bad luck John Clemens lost his money with bad investments and the family ended impoverished. The children of this union were:
Mary E. b. 1837 in St. Louis
John Clemens, Jr. b. 1839 St. Louis
Alexander b. 1841 St. Louis
Ellen B.(possibly Blanche) b. 1847 St. Louis
Julia C. b. 1850 St. Louis
Mary E. married a Mr. Sommers, and had a daughter. Ellen married a man connected with the Mississippi river boats, John West and had two daughters, Blanche, and Lily and three sons John A., Frank and Alexander J. West. Julia married Frank E. King, and had two children Mabel A. and Edmond F. King.
