My grandfather was Gilbert Alfred Doggett born in 1882 to
Alfred Asher Doggett, born in 1856 and Eliza Gamage whose father was an architect and surveyor. My grandfather had three sisters, Jessica, Muriel and Grace and his brothers were Harold, who had a son Robert, Gordon, Clarence, Sydney who had a daughter Rita and Len whose daughter is Barbara James who I am in touch with. The others we lost touch with years ago. They all lived around London.

Alfred and Eliza were married on the 12 March 1881 at the Grove Chapel, Camberwell and his parents were John Doggett and Elizabeth Sarah Mandrell who lived in Islington.

My grandfather was brought up in Old Broad Street right in the City of London. He was a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery in World War 1. He later worked in a stockbroker's office. He died in 1970.
