MRS. AMELIA DOGGETT DIES IN HOSPITAL.
Townsend, June 2. --- (Special) --- Mrs. Amelia Doggett, 79, wife of the late Jefferson D. Doggett, died this morning at the Broadwater clinic and hospital following an illness of several months. Mrs. Doggett was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, May 29, 1863. She came to old Diamond City in 1889 with her brother, Adolph W. Schrieber who owned and operated a general store, post office and hotel in the boom days of this ghost mining town. She was married to Jefferson D. Doggett, son of a pioneer family, November 24, 1896. They first lived on the Doggett ranch near Fort Logan and later moved to the ranch in the Canton valley now operated by their son, Howard J. Doggett. When Mr. Doggett retired from active farm life they moved to Townsend.
Mrs. Doggett was active in social activities and enjoyed a wide circle of friends over the state. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Howard J. and Elizabeth Doggett, their twin sons Jeff and Bill and their daughter, Judy. Her sister, Mrs. Herman Gaugler of Lewistown and brother Phillip E. Schrieber of Sheridan, Wyo., visited her last week. The remains will lie in state at the Connors mortuary until noon Thursday when they will be taken to St. John’s Episcopal church. The Very Rev. Charles A. Wilson, dean of the procatherdral of Helena will officiate at the services at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon. Burial will be made in the family plot of the Deer Creek cemetery.

RITES ARE HELD. Funeral services for Mrs. Jeff Doggett were conducted today in St. John’s Episcopal church by the Very Rev. Charles A. Wilson of Helena. A solo, “Perfect Prayer,” was sung by Mrs. Ray Ward. Pallbearers were J.G. Plymale, James Kearns, Frank Smazal, Ray Ward, Ben F. Thompson and George Zimmerman. Burial was in the family plot in the Deep Creek cemetery. Among those to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lyng of Fort Logan, E.A. Phillips of Helena, Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Parker and Chester Aldrich of Radersburg, Miss Luella Watson and Mrs. Minnie Bingham of Watson, Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Kimpton of Crow Creek and Mrs. B.B. Briscoe and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Greaves of Toston.
