Hi there,
My GGG Grandfather was John Sweet Doidge who was the father of your John Sweet Doidge(b 1828 in Newton Abbott, Devon - living in Redruth as a bookseller).
The info I have is that he married a Jane Tippet in 3rd qtr 1853 (1829-1891) and then maybe an Ann Johns (1848-1870). He also had a sister called Jane Doidge b 1831 who married William King.
His other siblings were:-
Sarah (1828-1886) married to a Sam Hele.
Thomas (1833-1888) married Fanny Abbott Toms (my GG GParents) and
Jabez (1836-1862) married Mary Seall
I have a book called Sharpened Tools for busy Workers which was "collected and arranged by John Sweet Doidge". The preface shows him living at 4 Albert Terrace, Penzance October 1897. HTH.
Cheers,
Jess
