Just a chance but......

My mother's father was Albert Edward Dokey 1897-1974. His wife was Ann McNally. Albert had two sisters I know of, Dora and Gladys.

Albert's father was Edward Dokey, his wife was Lottie Whipple. Edward had two brothers I know of, Peter and Anthony. Peter married Elizabeth.

These were in the Kalamazoo Michigan area.

Albert was French-Canadian and my mother says the Dokeys came into the US from Canada by way of New York.

She thinks the name Dokey was a French name and after entering the US, they starting spelling it phonetically because they had a hard time using the original spelling of the name in French.
