I amm the wife of Wilbern. My line begins with a Stephen Dokey that I found on the 1850 NY census. My great grandfather , his son was born in Rochester, NY. The family later moved to MI and they lived in around the Mason area. They were there by the time of the Civil War as many of his brothers fought in this was. My grandfather was also a Edward Dokey and one of his sisters was named Dora. I feel that you may belong to the Emory Dokey line. He was a brother of my Edward. The family often used the same names for children, etc. Stephen was from Canada and I have been told he was French Canadian. Some of Stephens sons were named Edward, John, Emory, David, and William. They were all from the same area of MI. I hope this helps.
