Fran, Sorry for not replying sooner, but I was traveling and out of e-mail contact for 2 weeks. As far as I know, John Dokey (father of Grace Dokey) is the son of Stephen Dokey (or Dokie), although I have not been able to find them in the same household in a census together. I have read some of your postings, and see that you are also descended from Stephen Dokey. It looks like you and I are 3rd cousins.

I think the John Dokey who died in Michigan was a son of Abram Dokey.

My John Dokey was born in Greece, Monroe County, New York about 1935 or 1937. He was probably with a Bull family in Monroe County in the 1850 census. He was in Clinton, Elkhart County Indiana in 1860. He married Margaret Fuller in Bloomingdale, Van Buren County, Michigan in 1869. He was in the 1870 census in Bloomingdale. He was in the 1880 census in Van Buren Twp., Crawford County Arkansas. He died in 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri.
