I have been researching a family who were in IOW, Southampton Co. VA since the early 1700's. The spelling is Doyell, Doyle, Doyal, Doyl, depending on the whim of the writer. When I have seen DOLES in the census listings there, I have wondered if this is another spelling of the surname above, or if this is an entirely different group. I would appreciate comments.
