Milton S. Dollins of Lincoln Co. was in my great grandfather Lawrence Epps 8th Regiment Tennessee Infantry Co. D. He enlisted 18 May 61 as 3rd Lt. but promoted to 2nd Lt. on 8 May 62; Wounded at Murfreesboro, TN., 31 Dec. 62; Died 30 Jan. 63. My great grandfather Lawrence was also severly wounded at the battle of Murfreesboro on the same day. He was captured in the hospital at Murfreesboro and eventually was sent to Fort McHenry Baltimore. He was then exchanged and suffered through out the remainder of the war with the wound that would not heal and measles, typhoid etc. He walked back to Nashville with Gen. Hood in the winter and his shoes wore out so he was bare foot with frost bit feet. He got a penison for vets of the war in hin old age. He mentioned Lt Dollins in his pension application.
