Please excuse my delay in responding to your message. I have been wrestling with some new computer equipment and a new server - hopefully, I think it is all sorted out now!
When I read your reply to Myles DOLPHIN in Quebec I was really excited! I am convinced that we are 1/2 or step-first cousins!
My grandfather was James DOLPHIN and my grandmother was Jane Mary BRAMMALL. They left Lancashire, England in 1888 with 5 children, the youngest of whom was my father, Charles Brammall DOLPHIN (age 8 months). They lived in Magog, Quebec, Cohoes, New York State and Montreal, Quebec where James was a manager of cotton mills (Royal and Dominion Textiles). They had 4 more children in Canada. When my father was 16 his mother, Jane Mary BRAMMALL, died on 11 Dec. 1904 in Cohoes, N.Y. and she is buried there.
My father left home then to become an architect.
James DOLPHIN married Bella BUCKLEY (a friend of the family) abt. 1915 and she helped raise the younger children as well as having 2 sons of their own named John and Harold.
My cousin, Ross THOMSON (son of Jane Mary DOLPHIN and Christian THOMSON), met John and Harold some years ago and John's nickname then was 'Jack'.
James DOLPHIN died 6 April 1918.
Jill, is this familiar? Do you have a brother or cousin named Bruce?
I have a great deal of information and many pictures of James DOLPHIN and much data on his ancestors. I would be delighted to share this with you. I live in Mississauga, Ontario and my email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hoping to hear from you, Nancy Jane Dolphin McKee.
