Dear Penney,
In amongst my husband's line we have these few families which are connected, in some way.
We have a Louisa Jane Young bap. 7.5.1838, dau. of William Young and Hannah Simms who married James Newbury 18.10.1859
Maiden Bradley.Louisa was the sister of Martha Young my husbands Gt.Gt.Grandmother.
We have a Martha Doman bap.21.3.1773 Maid.Brad.dau. of William and Rebecca Doman. She married on
26.12.1794 to Henry Simms bap.5.4.1772 M.B. son of Edward Sims and Hannah Folks who married 1754.
Note the two different spellings!Edward and Hannah Sims are my husbands Gt.Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandparents.
We have a Joanna Newbury who married on 4.4.1779 to a John Sims bap.22.9.1754 M.B.John and Edward (above) were brothers.
We have Mary White bap.4.11.1781 who married 13.9.1803 to Richard White bap.7.5.1780 and had son James White born 7.6.1820. James's 2nd wife was Ettelinda Newbury m. 6.10.1862.
James was my husband's Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandmother's brother.
Regarding the different spellings of names. We have found it depended on whoever (Vicar etc.) wrote it down at the time as most people could not write.
I am giving you an email address of a distant cousin who it appears is on your direct line of Michael and Mary Doman/Sims.Her name is Annette Gray on [email protected] has extensive records.I rang her this morning and she will look forwards to your contact.Best wishes - Jill.
