John T. "Jay" Donahoe, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, died Nov. 16, 2007 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jay was born the oldest of five brothers on the north side of Chicago in 1925. The family was a member of St. Gertrude's Parish. Proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy-WW II, Jay was a front gunner on the USS New Jersey and served throughout the South Pacific. In 1950, he married Mary Sheehan and began working at the Chicago Board of Trade with his father and brothers. While still working there he purchased a farm in Woodstock and the first of his seven children was born. A few years later the family purchased a much larger farm in Hanover, IL, where they remained for close to 30 years. Jay commuted back and forth to Chicago for many years, finally leaving the Board of Trade in 1972. Jay and Mary fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to Honolulu in 1987. Jay is survived by his wife Mary; his seven children; and eight grandchildren; as well as two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
