Hi Tracy:

Your stepson's grandfather Owens Dunnahoo descends from Rufus Henry Dunnahoo born 2/22/1849 in Pontotac Mississippi. Rufus' family came to Texas around 1850 and settled first in Bastrop and then Caldwell County. Rufus Henry's father was Rufus Pierce Dunnahoo born 9/19/1825 in Oglethorpe Co., GA and R.H.'s mother was Jane Catherine Atkinson born 12/20/1820 in GA. Here is the line of descent to Owens: Rufus Pierce Dunnahoo is the father of Rufus Henry Dunnahoo. Rufus Henry Dunnahoo is the father of Rufus Jesse Dunnahoo born 8/06/1878 and Rufus Jesse is the father of Alex Henry Dunnahoo born 9/05/1900 and Alex is the father of Owens Alex Dunnahoo. Rufus Jesse was married to Mary Lou Chewning and was shot in the line of duty in August of 1931 when he was a lawman in Roswell, N.M. I have more information on the family plus some wonderful letters written home to Texas by Rufus Pierce back in the 1800's when he went to visit his son in New Mexico and I'll gladly share whatever your stepson is interested in. Just let me know. I'm always interested in getting new information on the family and would gladly welcome any information you or your stepson may have on his line. Regards, Marilyn
