Some of the best information that I've found for descendents of this family line is contained in "Cherokee By Blood, Volume 1" by Jerry Wright Jordan. These are the depositions taken for the Guion Miller Rolls of the Cherokee Nation, 1896-1907. Look under application # 664 for Sarah Mashburn. Listed are descendents through four lines of Elizabeth Betty Pledge Poindexter, Frank Pledge, John Ayers, and Junalusky (Junaluska), descendents of Mary Wentworth and Donahoo of VA, and later the Yadkin River area of NC). Applications were denied due to lack of hard evidence, but the depositions are pages long and worth the read for the descendents' names--there are many. According to the depositions, Mary Wentworth was a woman of some parentage who emigrated to VA, probably English or Scottish society, and who married Donaha or Donahoo, who is claimed to be a Chief, (maybe Cherokee) but this is unproven. All six hundred claims for any Indian allotment or compensation were denied. But highly worth the read for the genealogical material. Many names here including Poindexter, Martin, Ayers, Pledge, Reeve.
