EAST FALMOUTH — George Donaldson Jr., 80 of Shorewood Dr., died Thursday at The McCarthy Care Center, Sandwich. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Bacon) Donaldson.
Born in Pawtucket a son of the late George Donaldson Sr. and the late Emma (Mansfield) Donaldson. He summered in Falmouth for fifty-four years and resided there year round for the past twelve years. Prior to that he lived in Cumberland, R.I.
Mr. Donaldson graduated from Pawtucket West High School now Shea High School in 1948 and U.R.I. School of Engineering in 1957.
George was an engineer and founded the G. Donaldson Construction Company in 1977 until his retirement.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a former member of the Lafayette Lodge F&AM of Cumberland, R.I.
Besides his wife he leaves one daughter Polly A. Donaldson of Providence, R.I., one son Courtney G. Donaldson of Gloucester, R.I., two grandchildren Jared M. and Tye A. Donaldson. He was the father of the late Libby D. Donaldson.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel, 160 River Rd., Lincoln, with a service in Swan Point Cemetery Chapel, Blackstone Blvd., Providence, at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Swan Point Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
