Betty,
Charles Fenton Myers and Susan Hough Donaldson were my great great grandparents.
Here is what I have found for the Donaldsons:
Thomas Donaldson married Elizabeth Hough in 1815.
From Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy for Fairfax Monthly Meeting (Waterford, VA):
DONALDSON, Elizabeth (form. HOUGH) rpd mou 6 mo - 1815; dis 31-7-1816 "after long care".
The Charles Blair Tavenner collection at the Thomas Balch Library in Leesburg, VA lists this marriage as between Thomas Donaldson and Elizabeth Hough. They do not list parents for Thomas Donaldson. They do say that Elizabeth Hough was the daughter of Samuel Hough and Ann Stabler.I would like to find some corroborating evidence for this.
These 3 marriages are listed in Loudoun County Virginia Marriage Bonds 1762-1850 by Aurelia M Jewell, and in Marriages of Loudoun County, Virginia 1757-1853 by Mary Alice Wertz:
William Myers and Mary H Donaldson, m. Feb. 29, 1840
William W McDonough and Harriet H Donaldson, m. Aug. 7, 1843
Charles F Myers and Susan H Donaldson, m. Aug. 13, 1849
All 3 marriages state that Elizabeth C Donaldson was the mother of the bride.
Elizabeth Hough Donaldson was born c 1797, and is listed as age 53 in the 1850 census and age 74 in the 1870 census.
In the 1850 census, Walter Donaldson is listed as age 20, and George Donaldson as age 30.Does this correspond with your information?
