Robert Howie-Margaret Donaldson

I am researching the following family:

Robert Howie (a plasterer) and Margaret Donaldson had a son, Robert Howie, b. 17 March 1844 in Scotland. In Dalrymple in 1866, Robert Jr., an ironstone miner, married Annie Edgar, daughter of Hugh Edgar and Margaret Hunter. Margaret Donaldson was deceased by this time. Robert and Annie emigrated to the US (Pennsylvania) about 1871 along with Edgar, Clarke, Dunlop, and Bryan relatives. They had a son, also named Robert Howie, who was born in Scotland in 1868, and died in Greene County, PA in 1904. This Robert was married to Lucinda Rinehart, and had sons Robert R. and Ralph E., and daughter Lucille, who were living in California with their mother (now remarried to James Harshman)as of 1920.

I have never been able to find a marriage records for Robert Howie and Margaret Donaldson (presumably in Scotland from approximately 1810 to 1844) nor have I been able to find their son Robert's birth record. I have not found them in any of the census records in Scotland. Robert Howie and Margaret Donaldson also had a son William Howie who married Agnes Coates in Dalziel, Lanarkshire in 1865.
