Hello Colleen,
I don't have any info re Donegan/Dunican in Drogheda, Co.MEATH <not to be confused with Co-WESTMEATH!>

Drogheda borders on counties Meath and Louth.
However I noticed that the Family History Genealogy Library
<LDS> hold records for Drogheda =

Parish registers, 1747-1772 Church of Ireland. Parish Church of Drogheda
Parochial registers of St. Mary's (Drogheda, Louth), 1835-1881 Catholic Church. Parish of St. Mary's (Drogheda, Louth)

Parochial registers of St. Peter's (Drogheda), 1744-1881. Catholic Church. Parish of St. Peter's (Drogheda, Louth)
---------------------------
They also have much more info =

However, I did have a look on the LDS site<familysearch.org>for a Patrick Donegan born c.1831.
I found the following for some Patrick DUNNAGAN =

Patrick Dunnagan
Male
Event
Birth: About 1831 Drogheda, Louth, Ireland

Parents:
Father: John Dunnagan
Mother: Rose Moonan.
<Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter>
-------------------------------------------------------
Now for the interesting bit!!!
I also looked up John Donegan and found the following !!! =

John Dunnagan
Male
Event

Try the FHC <LDS> They have most Irish records as you can cee from above list!

Hope this helps.

Patrick.
