There has always been a little mystery to where the Aherns originated.I know that Mary Murphy Ahern(my grmother) was born and raised in Ballyagran(Cappananty)she came over in 1900 with her cousin Hannah Biggane. My grfather came over in the early 1890's from Cappamore doon Parish,Limerick.I'm not sure if it was coincidence that the Donegan's had relatives in both cappamore and Ballyagran or if maybe the aherns also had relatives in Ballyagran.I was over there last year and meet my grmothers niece Eileen Murphy Moloney(80's) who lives in Athlacca the Land Commission made them move from ballyagran in 1939.Where are you from?and where do the Donegans live now?
