Hi Mary Lou Grant,

My name is Michael Dolan. My e-mail address is
I am Kate Donegan's grandson. I know she was in the U.S for a while, in NYC but returned. All her brothers and her father emigrated to the U.S. On some of their entry documents it says they are going to stay with Kate Dolan in NYC. She came back to Ireland and married a cattle dealer named Patrick Dolan from a place in North Longford in Granard. I think they lived in the UK for a while as my father, their only son was born in Liverpool. I know Kate returned to Ireland without her husband but with her son and then lived with her aunt and uncle, Charlie and Bridget Cannon near Newtownforbes. When they died Kate took over the house and the 16 acres. My father inherited this when Kate died in 1968. I was born in 1969 so never met her but my mother who is alive and 82 knew Kate well as did some of my elderly neighbours. I believe she was strong willed but lovely! I moved into the old place when my father died in 2005 and have a son and another one on the way. My partner is Rachel and she is French. I feel very close to Kate in the house. I find little things when I am gardening, which were hers.
Write back. i would love to hear about the letters.
