Exerts of letter from Alex McDonald (written in 1904)

Martha Donnell married Allen Denny and in 1813 they emigrated to Missouri. Angelina married Harvey Jones and they moved to Missouri in 1814 as did Mabin Scott and wife Polly. In 1815 Robert Donnell the only son came out also and this the old people could not stand so in the fall of 1836 my Grandfather Robert Donnell and his wife and two single daughters, Sallie and Dochenthia packed up in a 4 horse wagon, a 2 horse wagon and the family carriage.
They moved up to Platt Purchase which was just then thrown open to settlers and took up a beautiful claim in 1838, 17 miles south of St. Joseph, but there was no town there then of course.

Dr. Silas McDonald, and Miss. Sallie were married on Oct. 30, 1839.

Gil Harris
