When I first started research on my mother's Donnell family I knew nothing about them.I have pieced together from my g-grandfather down since that time.
I have either a myth or fact I remember being told as a child that the family name was spelled O'Donnell but when they arrived in the U.S. from Ireland the O' was dropped by part of the family and became Donnell the others kept the O' & parted ways.I first picked the family up in 1870 in Ohio.My great-grandfather Thomas A. Donnell was working on the railroad .Three children were born while they lived in Ohio.Thomas A. Donnell,John Alexander Donnell & Sarah Jane Donnell a fourth child was born in Kansas Charlotte (Lottie) Donnell ,I am assuming Rooks Co since that was where they were in 1880,the family left Kansas somewhere around 1886 & 1888 going into Carrol & Madison Co.Arkansas.Thomas A. Donnell & his wife Elizabeth Jane Hogue(Hoague) are buried in the Clifty Cemetery Madison Co Ark. along with other family members Thomas A. the son is buried in Carrol Co.Ark in the Eureka Springs Cem. along with some of his children and their spouses.
By reading Genforum I find there is a Donnell book.My Thomas A. Donnell was born in PA.& so was his parents according to the 1910 census Piney twp.Madison Co. Ark.(Which was filled out by his son John Alexander Donnell).
I am looking for someone out with the Donnell book &is willing to do a lookup to see if my Donnells are in the book.My great-grandfather Thomas A. Donnell b.ca 1841 md Elizabeth Jane Hogue(Hoague) ca 1868.I am trying to find where in PA he wae born and who his parents are.Thank You.
