DONNELL/ DONALD/DUNNELL - yDNA testing??

Does anyone know if a ydna surname project has been set up for hopes of Finally separating these ~seemingly~ related branches of the DONNELL's//DONALD's//DUNNELL's of Maine etc.?
Much of these branches do not come together well, or at least from my own research. There seems to possibly be at least 2 separate lines going that somehow all ended up in York Co., ME.
A portion of my own branch went to Georgetown, Bath, Brunswick and Wiscasset, Maine and at times they seem to be related (all having the SameNames etc.) but at other times don't seem to link up well at all.
Because of the numerous spellings of this last name, research can be a nightmare. If you look under DONNELL, it might be recorded as DUnel or DOniel, or Donald or numerous other ways. It is Most frustrating to say the least as I'm sure many of you have also encountered these same problems.
Since my lines only come from the New England branches of this name I don't do research work anywhere else but mostly Maine, MA and NH.
I do believe the Only way to Separate these many spellings and branches and to see if once and for all they are truly related to one another regardless of what the Genealogy says, is to set up a DONALD/DONNELL/DUNNELL Surname Project for those Males who believe or Know by documented proof, that their genealogy descends from these New England lines.
Perhaps this has already been done, I checked on this board for any DNA info and didn't see anything yet, so that is why I'm inquiring now.

We did this for my own surname (Moody) and Boy what a shocker that was for me personally! All my life I had been told we descended from the English Moody's of Newbury, MA (William line) OR possibly his cousins line John of Hartford, CT whose descendant Rev. Dwight Lyman Moody was from. Well ydna proved that incorrect. We don't descend from the Clement Moody line of Exeter, NH either.
As a matter of fact we don't descend from any of the English MOODY's at all.
We do have a close link to two men whose ancestors were from Northern Ireland (prob. Ulster-Scots) and so I am now researching the Scottish MOODIE's/Mudie's to hopefully find my missing links.
My 5th grt. grandmother Elizabeth DONALD as she spelled her name and as her Father Benjamin spelled his name and as his Father Nathaniel spelled his name (I found all of this finally in old records, but they Always came with a note saying something to the effect of alternate spelling Donnell or Dunnell).
I asked a Scotsman how the name DONALD might sound when spoken in heavy Scottish accent. His answer to me was DONNELL or DONAL and that the ending 'd' was rarely sounded.
Anyway, I just thought I'd ask if anyone knows about any yDNA projects for these names?
Thanks
