Here is a link to the Clan Donald Ydna page where you can see the results for yourself. It looks like only one person of the surname DONNELL has participated and only one person of the surname DUNNELL. It appears they are Not related to Anyone, but then they only did the 25 marker test and for any type of Genealogical and better Genetic results you Must do the 37 marker test otherwise you can wind up with False/Positive results which as I know from experience can change dramatically when the 37 marker end of the results come in.
You may appear to be completely related at 25 markers but then when your 37 marker results come in they can be off as much as 6 markers which FTDNA claims means you are NOT related.
I feel that that depends on whether or not the markers that are mismatching are of the Rapidly Mutating locations or the ones that mutate Very Slowly. In our own surname project 99% of the mismatches between us are at these Rapidly Mutating markers, so in most instances I ignore them because Genealogically we are finding Connections between our lines and the one thing FTDNA harps on more than anything is finding the "paper trail" between family lines which they say will negate any marker mismatches that appear so that tells me that these mismatches Can be Off and perhaps are Not so catastrophic after all.
But finding the genealogy between two family lines (of the Same Surname of course) can be quite a task and it is very time consuming, but I believe well worth it in the end.

Also, this Clan Donald Ydna Results page in my opinion is Very difficult to figure out, I have read over the instructions several times but each time I am left with More Questions than I can find answers for. They keep referring to colored "dots" which I don't see, unless they mean the colored "Blocks" where a ydna marker is on their charts, then I don't see it.
Also they refer to the Colored "bands" separating each section and these bands are more like a tiny thing strip of color, not a wide band, so that took me a few tries to figure out too. Perhaps you will see it all more clearly than I did. AND there is (at least I couldn't find it) no explanation for what they mean by "Dist" on their charts.
I am guessing "Distance" but distance to What and as compared to what?

Maybe someone here can explain it to me. This Ydna stuff confuses me to bits so it takes someone to explain it to me in really simple laymans terms.
Perhaps this link will be helpful to others.

I was surprised to see so many McQuiston's/McQueston's/McCuiston's/Houston's/Hutchison's etc. on here as they are the family that my own family married into in Nor. Ireland and emigrated to America with in 1735. They are a sept of Clan Donald/McDonald and so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised to see them listed on the site. My 5th grt. grandmother Elizabeth DONALD (as she spelled her name and as it was spelled on her marriage record in Maine, but more commonly spelled Donnell and Dunnell everywhere else), may be related to those DONNELL's that came over with my family and the McQuiston's, Rankin's, Denny's etc. who all married into our family too in Guilford Co., NC where they went after they left PA.

I was astounded to see that there were so many Donnell's in the Guilford/Rowan/Stokes/Orange Co., NC area since that is where my Ydna family ended up too. How my 5th grt. grandfather came to be in Maine and marry Elizabeth Donald/Donnell there is still a huge mystery to me.
But I did fina a Donnel who came up from NC to Maine to marry someone of my same family name, that is however Not related to me via Ydna which still perplexes me to this day.
We have so much in common with this family and yet we do not match ydna with them. ???

I hope you enjoy this website and can understand their results better than I can. I can't even tell whose matching to whom...I guess its via those Sections...those are the ones that match or nearly match to each other.
