Hello Melissa:
About your request for PA and NC, DonnellsóMy wifeís Donnells start with three brothers and a nephew b in Ireland. William Donnell Sr. b abt 1708, Robert Donnell Sr. b abt 1710 and Thomas Donnell Sr. b 1712 and the nephew Robert Donnell II. b abt 1728. These folks came to PA in early 1700s and migrated as a group from PA, NC, Wilson Co., TN>MO>AR and after the Civil War was over the group migration broke up and they scattered like the winds. The result of this group migration was many cousin marriages. In fact the first was the daughter of Robert Donnell II, Elizabeth Betsy Donnell to Robert Donnell, the son of Thomas Donnell Sr above.
The only exception was that Robert Donnell II group broke away from rest of the Donnell in TN and headed to AL.
To integrate this group to permit me better to relate these folks to each other I created two unknown Donnells in Ireland. Thus, now I have all 6100+ individuals tied into this one gedcom. There were two unknown origin Donnells that joined this group in TN, but there were no intermarrying with the other groups.
Now to your question about this bunch perhaps marrying into the ME Donnell. I do have a Wilson Leo Donnell b 1833 Wilson Co., TN ( a descendant of the above William Donnell Sr b 1708 ) married Melissa Ann Palmer b 1839 Nobelsboro, Lincoln Co. ME. My records. I have no record of any of their descendants marrying Donnells.
My wifeís mother was a Donnell resulted in my study. And if you are interested in this group I would be glad to swap gedcoms with you.
I started compiling the ME Donnell when a lady sent me her data in the late 1980s and I havenít worked on them in months, but I think I have about 500 individuals posted.
