John Doolan 1817 of Kildare Co. Ireland - 1900 Australia

Hello to all, I am in need of help! I have traced my father's family back to John Doolan (1817 - 1900)who was convicted (in Dublin)of stealing 'spoons and tongs' and sent to Australia on the Neptune 2 in 1838 (convict records state he is of Kildare Co). He was given his 'ticket of leave' in 1844 and married Jane Mary Mansfield in 1845 at Canbury (Now in the ACT, Australia). They had several children one of whom was John Thomas Doolan who married Louisa Kemp. They had several children one of whom was John Mansfield Doolan (My grandfather). My father was Bruce Doolan (1931 - 74). The John Doolan (1817 - 1900) has a death certificate that proclaims his father was John Doolan (a tailor) and his mother was Mary Lancaster. I can find no record of these Doolans or where on earth in Kildare Co I should begin. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance if you can :)
Kind regards,
Kerrie Doolan
