Hello, I bet you might be Sherm Doolen's two boys for Salem?? I have sent my farm tax bill to Sherm for years. I walked in his office one day and introduced myself and we talked. we figured he came from the Dan Doolen brother and I came from the William Doolen brother. They came up from Ky and settled around the Patoka/Salem area, farming. Rachel, Williams wife, is buried in the Sandy Branch Cemetary by Alma. I found it one winter tramping through the snow. William died in Ky before they all took off for Ill. Go to the Doolin site and take a peek. You will need some time. If we all contribute, we could put our Southern Ill part of the family together. Look up the Mormon site for genealogy. Lots of Infor. A doolen won the Cong. Medal of Honor in the Civil War for example. Southern Ill Doolens served in the Civil War, Blackhawk Indian war etc. Lots of history . I have run across some young doolens who have done some work chasing down doolens on the web. I just have not had the time to follow up on the notes I have collected. But I will since i am deeply interested in the roots question. I have been to Doolin , Ireland also. Lots to do and so little time. But I wanted you to receive an answer to your query. Tell your brother too for me. I have been to Marion county and just stopped at every house that had a doolen on the mailbox. very intersting. my dad was Wayne Doolen who died when i was three so I guess i am trying to find him as i look at this information. His dad was carl andrew, his dad Jesse. enough for now. Later, carl doolen
