This family is a mystery to me also. I have failed to attach them to our family tree.
I have : Capt Luther Doolittle 1775 NY - 1880 WV bride unk.
Had; 1. Ambrose L b. 20 Jan 1800
2. Cynthia 1805
3. Azuba Apr 1807
Ambrose L (I have seen his gravestone in Ona, WV) m Sarah Brown, dau of John Jr & Mary (Doak) Brown of Montgomery County, VA. They had a farm 7 miles from Blacksburg, VA.
They had:
1. Martin Luther b. 1811 NY (see 1850/60 WV Census)He was a lawyer & farmer.
2. Lydia Ann 1816 NY-1868 IL she m (1) 9 Feb 1832 John Harshbarger 2 Children
m (2) John Brown 1803 - 1875, 8 Children
3. Mary Ann 1822-1864 M(1) 1844 Samuel Harshbarger 1818-1846, 3 Children; m (2) 1855 Asa Lemuel Wilson 1817-1896, 4 Ch.
4. Ellen V 1827-1865 m. 27 Dec 1854 Jonathan Switzer 1829-1865 4 CH.
5. Amanda Frances m (1) 25 Apr 1855 Henry Clay Poteet had 3 ch. m (2) Armistead B Howell.
I have this data in my unknown file, sure wish I could locate them in NY or OH.
