I have in my genealogy, William Joseph Doremus, Born 17 May 1892 in Chadron, Dawes Co., Nebraska. This is from some information sent to me by David Joseph Doremus of Washington State. He is the son of William. Following is the information that he sent me on William Joseph.

William Joseph DORAMUS "was a bugler in the U.S. Calvary riding horses until Trucks and Automobiles were introduced in the Army replacing the horses."

"He served in the Philippines during the last part of the Spanish American War and due to being wounded by a bullet grazing the top of his forehead in this military action, he did not have to serve in Europe during World War I fighting the Germans. He died on 15 Feb 1961 in Portland, Oregon. Cause of death Bronchogenic Carcinoma. He was married to Ruby Viola FISHER on 18 June 1932 in Boulder, Montana."

"Ruby Viola FISHER was born on 8 Apr 1908 in Bozeman, Montana. She died on 11 Aug 1983 in Portland OR., William Joseph DOREMUS and Ruby Viola Fisher had the following Children:"...

They had 3 children, but because they are still living, as far as I know, I'd rather not publish their private information on the Internet. If you wish for their information you can contact me directly at

William Joseph DOREMUS was the son of George DOREMUS/DORAMUS and his second wife, Jane Ann HEMINGWAY. Here again, if you would like their information please contact me. George had 9 children with Jane. And as far as we can find, he had 2 children with his first wife, Rachel HAWKINS. My gr-gr-grandfather, Peter Abraham was one of his 2 sons from his first wife.

Let me know if you need anything more.

Happy Researching,
Leta Shell
