Feb. 5, 1798. He moved to Newark, where for some years he had a hat store and his wife a millinery on Broad Street, near the canal. His father's name is Joris (George) and his mother's name is Jannetye Ryerson. If this is your family, you should get a copy of the book "Genealogy of the Doremus Family in America 1897" by William Nelson. A copy can be obtained from www.bergenhistoricbooks.com.
