I found a newspaper clipping in my mother's photos. It is a photograph of Sgt. Major and Mrs. Horace L. Doremus - the comments say: "Sgt Major Horace L. Doremus, USMC, and Sgt Loretta Marie Ganey, USMCWR, were married Saturday evening December 16, in the Washington Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Doremus is the daughter of Mrs. Mabel L. Ganey of Chicago. Sgt and Mrs Doremus are both stationed at the Congaree Air Field. (Photo by Curtis Munn of Sargeant's)"
This is a WWII photo (my mom was in the Marines also) so about 1943 timeframe. Both people are in uniform cutting their wedding cake.
I found a Horace Doremus whose SSN was issued in NJ and died in 2001; Loretta died in 1980 (I presume).
If the NJ Doremus's have a connection with this couple, I would be glad to mail you the clipping.
