Okay! Here's the deal! George Doramus and Rachel Hawkins Doramus had 2 children. Peter Abraham and John. Rachel died and George married Jane Ann Hemingway. It is conflicting here as one place says they had 5, another says 9 children. Regardless. When the children of George and Jane were born, she inserted "e" instead of "A". George was born to Cornelius G. & Geertje DeMarest Doremus. The reason the genealogy stops with, and cannot go further back is because George for whatever reason substituted the"e" with "a". This means as the line went forward, Peter Abraham and brother John and all descendants born of them are Doramus. Those born when he was married to Jane Ann went forward as Doremus. Both spellings are related because of George. Remember there is no one been able to find Dor(a)mus before George and Rachel. George is the bad guy!! With this thought, many may be able to track some of their family by using "e" or "a" I am a descendant of Peter Abraham, his son Ernest Otto, his son Phillip Melvin, and me.
