I have the complete family history too.
My great, great great grandmother was Jane Doremus who married Richard Ennis.
Anyway, eventhough the most of the Americans with the surname Doremus are all descended from Cornelis Doremus, from Holland, I find the name is very commom in France in years before the Cornelis Doremus/Dey line in Middlesburg Holland. My feelings are they weren't Dutch, but rather settled Holland from France?? Any ideas? I know the Doremus Family History Book says it could have been De Rhiems from France, but it is intact as Doremus in France.
