Charles: Jane Doremus (b. 1817, m. John Moon) was my gg grandmother. I too am believing that they were firmly ensconced in France before removing to Holland. I looked up the name in a translation book somewhere and in French "D'ore" referred to, and I am paraphrasing, "golden one" or "golden-haired". I might add that all the cousins I had as well as I were blond. Do you have any other info on Jane or John Moon? Or any other of the female lines concerning the Doremus families? I have the Nelson book, can't get a copy of the revised version. I'm doing my research as ZI find time and opportunity. Thanks. B.A.
