~ Searching for Erzsebet Dorfner’s European roots ~

Through the National Archives of Australia, my sister and I have been able to find out information about our mother, Erzsebet Dorfner (maiden name.) Born July 2 1932, Budapest Hazadon Magyar.
In April of 1994, someone, somewhere, also accessed the National Archives of Australia and paid for a copy of mums files. We are hoping that this may have been some family member who is looking to connect with mum and her family here.
Mum crossed the Hungarian border into Austria with many other refugees in 1956, to escape the Hungarian Revolution. Travelling with her was her step sister, Anna Bognar who would have been around 15 years of age at the time. From Austria, Mum was transferred to Luzern, Switzerland and she lived at Matten – Interlaken, Brunngasse 353. On her files, she lists her step father Istvan Bognar as next of kin.
Initially, Mum and Anna were going to travel to Australia together. Mum wont say much, so information is sketchy, but she said that at the last minute, Anna decided to stay in Switzerland. We don’t know if Anna stayed or returned to Budapest, or indeed went as a refugee to Canada perhaps.
Mum travelled to Australia aboard MIFLY departing in 1957 under Hungarian Refugee Assisted Scheme. Upon arriving in Melbourne, she was then taken to Bonagilla Displaced Persons Camp. Mum made friends with a couple of passengers aboard the MIFLY aeroplane – Imre Bodorkos and his wife. They stayed together at Bonagilla and apparently went, together, to Sydney NSW.
We are especially interested to know what happened to Anna Bognar and any information would be appreciated!
