The Jean Kirkpatrick trilogy about Marie Dorion gives much information about this family. The final book gives a family tree and at the end tells about the research that was done. Ms. Kirkpatrick believes that Marie did not tell her family about John until her later years, not long before she died.

Another thing in the book is an account of the memorials that can be found speaking of Marie Dorion. I'd like to visit the French Prarie area and see it for myself. I'm sure it looks different now and it might be very difficult to see it through her "eyes."
