Chris:
I am researching Dornans originally from Grasmere in the 1790's in Westmorland Co (now Cumbria Co) England. On a Westmorland Co list I posted for any info on Dornans in Grasmere and received a reply from someone who had an ancestor James Backhouse buried in Grasmere churchyard with an inscription on his headstone to Mary Dornan, his daughter. This lister hadn't done any more research yet, but after reading your post above, this confirms the Dornan/Bachhouse connection. You had said you didn't have any other info on your William Backhouse Dornan, but please let me know through this forum if you find any more info. I have info on my Dornans that I would be happy to share.
Regards,
Linda
