My great great grandmother Mary Margaret Dornan said to be 4 years old and an orphan when she was sent to Canada and arrived in 1890-91
Thousands of children from Glasgow, Londonderry and Liverpool were sent to Canada during this time: orphaned, illegitimate and otherwise abandoned.
We don't know if she is Irish or Scottish but the English say they have no record of sending this child: so she must be either or........
Ships of the time transporting these children mostly left Glasgow and went directly to Canada: but a few did stop occasionally in Londonderry........
Would you have a sad story like her's to fit into your family tree from old family stories?
Thanks: Suzanne Sears, Ontario Canada
