You may be correct that John died in Campbell rather than Chattooga.I will have to check the microfilm again.
As to your list, Joseph Sr. found in the Laurens Co., SC records beginning 1785, assigned his land to his sons, James and Thomas in 1790, therefore, the James born in 1803 would have been a grandson, not his son.
His son, James, died intestate in Anderson County, SC in 1803.
Joseph Sr. had five sons:
James [died 1803]
Thomas
Joseph Jr.
John
Elijah
The remaining four sons moved to Georgia, settling upon Indian lands and were order to move by the Georgia government prior to 1820 when they are found listed in Hall County.
