Murphy/Dorsett Connection???

The deed records of Pendleton District, SC, list an 1802 deed between Willis Benson of Greenville Distict to Russell Cannon of Pendleton District. This deed was witnessed by ELIJAH MURPHY and Joseph Dosett [Dorsett]. As Joseph Dorsett, Sr. named one of his sons Elijah, I've often wondered if there might be a family connection between these two men.

It is also my understanding that witnesses to deeds are usually family relations to the seller, but I've not seen any other record which connect Dorsetts to Bensons. In fact, the Dorsett family doesn't seem to connect to any early families.

Should someone have any sources which might connect this family to others, I would be thrilled to see them.
