I have noticed that Francis Dorset[t] researchers are posting in vaiours places information that are not official documentation such as court records, deed records, ship passenger lists, marriage record, death records, etc. In stead they are indicating sources such as farmiy traditions, Ancestry.com, Rootsweb, etc. Posted ages for the same individuals vary by many years - such as for Francis Dorset[t]- born ca1718 or ca1734. Many report he was from Dorset County (Shire)England without providing proof. Some report his wife Rebecca McSwain was from Maryland where that surname is not found in early times but is found in NC. I have come to doubt the DAR Patriot Index which indicates:
Dorsett (includes Dorset)
Francis: b c. 1718 p. 1785 m (1) Jane Prather (2) Rebecca MacSwain SOL NC
Francis does appear in NC Regulator documents but is not listed on Revolutionary War Rosters in NC or pension records of such.
