This is so coincidental.
I recently found a typed piece of paper in my grandmother's attic (also riddled with misspellings, unfortunately) that documented a name change in my family. Our last name is DOZIER, but apparently about four generations ago, it was changed from DOSHER.
No one in my family knew this, and we found it when my grandmother died, so we couldn't ask her. This was in Arkansas (I don't have the details because I don't have the paper on me), and they then moved to Madison, KY. Then on to Louisville.
Why would they change the name? Is DOZIER French?
P.S. I hear there are quite a few DOZIERs in the Memphis area.
