I just saw your mssgs on on the Doshier family. I am Daniel Doshier's grt grt grt granddau. His dau. Elizabeth Ross Doshier was married to my gt gt grfather Daniel Boone Wickersham. How I have loved reading your enlightening info. I can now fill you in on the rest of the story. Eliz. was also know as Besty Ross Doshier. She had 4 son, Newton & Jasper who were twins born in 8-02-1856 George Wiashington 11-10-1857 and Francis Marion 10-18-1859. Daniel was a Miller in the town of Yellville and was murdered as an old man during the civil war. First of let me clairify that that I called him old because Besty was his 2nd marriage and she was about as old as some of his children by his first marriage. He was died at the hands of Bushwackers that were trying to rob him and torture his wife Betsy. He broke free from his captors and tried to rescue his wife but was shot and died. Besty lived to raise her 4 sons alone. Although Newton died at 28 (unmarried) he drown in the creek. Jasper, was a favorite uncle of my grandfather Ollie Boyd Wickersham, and he and my grt Aunt Doll Wickersham Blankenship frequently mentioned him and his family, he married Catherine Doshier and they had 5 children Amelia Ann 1/21/1880, George Washington 2/21/1882, Thomas Edgar 3/7/1889 Mary Louisa 3/19/1889 and Jonathan Francis 3/27/1893. ( I have a family picture of them.) I also have more information that I can share, as well as a copy of the death notice from the newspaper when Betsy died in August 12, 1913. My grt. aunt was present to dress her body and told me a remarkable story that she learned at that time, and how I was able to prove that the Bushwackers really did kill my grt grt grandfather has she had claimed for many years.
There is a reecenlty published family book by Gay Wickersham Davis, Helen Sheldon and Patrica Escalante "The Wickersham's In America." Which I assisted in. It is still available through Heritage Press. Elizabeth is and her famiily are recorded in there. I have her listed as the dau. of Henry Doshier, which is what my records had shown. He may have been called Henry, nick names were certainly the trend. I would love to hear from you and learn anymore Doshier &/or Wickersham information that you can give me. you can reach me at: Smilenhappy@garofalos.org
